CHEMICALS WORKING GROUP
The upcoming changes to the EU REACH regulation will have a substantial impact on chemicals regulation in the European Union. Restrictions, assessment of regulatory needs, and chemical legislation for specific product areas – as in the case of biocides - also present ongoing challenges. Simultaneously, the United Kingdom is implementing its own regulatory framework, UK REACH, opening the scope for the UK to develop its own specific proposals to manage chemical substances, such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
The Chemicals Working Group will facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the implications of these regulatory developments for businesses through monthly meetings. These gatherings serve as an indispensable platform for participants to engage in an exchange of information and best practice between industry and legislators. Crucially, these meetings provide a forum for in-depth discussions that encompass the identification, evaluation, and management of risks and opportunities stemming from potential divergences in regulatory approaches.
